New Ballpark Logo Unveiled for Regions Field

January 23, 2013

Leaders from the Birmingham Barons and Regions Bank have unveiled the logo for the city's new, downtown baseball facility - Regions Field. The design, by local firm Luckie & Co., will be used throughout the new state-of-the-art facility and ties the tradition and history of baseball in the Birmingham to the modern facility anchoring new development in the Railroad Park area.

Barons General Manager Jonathan Nelson said the park will have something for everyone, from multiple kid-play areas to batting cages, corporate-client entertaining locations and places for large social and church groups to hold game-day picnics.

Similar to the logo, Regions Field blends aspects of Birmingham's baseball past - including elements similar to the city's historic Rickwood Field (the nation's oldest surviving ballpark) with architectural elements found downtown.

The field is being built by the design team of Dallas-based HKS, Inc. and Birmingham's Hoskins Architecture. The 8,500 seat stadium is on-schedule to open April 10, 2013.

"The Barons have brought so much to this city and been such an important part of our history and community," said Bill Horton, Regions North Central Alabama Area President. "We're proud to support and be a part of the future of baseball in Birmingham."

"People are going to love this ballpark," says Stan Logan, a member of the Barons' ownership group. "The importance of the corporate community, especially Regions, and their support allows the community to have an asset that can be enjoyed by families from across the Metro area. We can remain a family friendly entertainment venue that's affordable to all. Without Regions' and corporate support, this would not be possible."
