The Barons’ three game win streak was snapped in the series finale with the Lookouts in a 10-6 loss.

Raudy Read opened the scoring for Birmingham with a home run in the first inning. However, Chattanooga posted five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jacob Hurtubise scored when starter Kaleb Roper committed a throwing error on a pickoff attempt. Roper then walked in a run before being pulled. The righty lasted just 0.2 IP, and was charged with each of the five runs. The next three came when Michael De Leon smacked a bases clearing double off of Trey Jeans to make it 5-1 in favor of the Lookouts.

The Barons got the five runs back in the fourth. Moises Castillo singled to center field in the fourth inning to plate Ian Dawkins. After that, Read hit a grand slam to put Birmingham up 6-5. Read’s blast made it his second two-homer game of the season.

De Leon was back at it again in the fifth inning with his second double of the night, generating another run to tie the game. But Chattanooga took the lead due to Allan Cerda’s two run round-tripper in the sixth. Another run came when Leonardo Rivas crossed home on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Mike Siani in the eighth inning. That made it 9-6 Lookouts. They rounded out their scoring with another wild pitch, this one off the fingertips of Edgar Navarro. Alex McGarry scored.

First pitch for tomorrow’s special 4th of July bout with the Smokies is set for 6:30 CT. Scott Blewett (3-2, 5.48) gets the start for Birmingham. Brandon Leibrandt (4-3, 4.47) will go for Tennessee.
