March 7, 2013

MARIETTA, Ga. -- The Southern League announced on Wednesday that the Montgomery Biscuits have won the inaugural Southern League Promotional Trophy. The trophy is awarded to the Southern League team who had the most outstanding promotional work. Votes for the award are compiled from the Southern League's General Managers.

As the winner of the Southern League Promotional Trophy, the Biscuits will be the Southern League's nominee for the Larry MacPhail Award honoring the best promotional work in all of Minor League Baseball at this year's Winter Meetings.

The Biscuits ranked third in the Southern League in attendance this season. 2012's promotional schedule featured the second year of the Thirsty Thursday Concert Series, 19 MAX Fireworks Spectaculars, innovative giveaways, and budget-conscious food promotions. The Biscuits drew over 7,000 fans on three separate occasions in 2012.

"We're very excited to win the Southern League Promotional Trophy, and look forward to making our case at this year's Winter Meetings for the Larry MacPhail Award", said Biscuits Owner Tom Dickson. "We're very appreciative and humbled by this award, and it's a direct result of a lot of hard work and a true team effort", said Biscuits Marketing Director Jordan Mandelkorn.

The Biscuits finished the 2012 season with a 2nd half South Division Championship, and we're eliminated in the first round of the Southern League Playoffs by the Mobile BayBears.
