BILOXI, Mis. - The Biscuits (6-13) led early, but ultimately fell to the Biloxi Shuckers (12-7) on Tuesday night at MGM Park by a score of 9-5. The two squads will play a rubber match for the series beginning on Wednesday morning.
Former Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Adrian Houser was on the mound for the Shuckers, and the Biscuits got to him right out of the gate with Dalton Kelly doubling and Nick Solak walking to set up an RBI-single off the bat of Brett Sullivan to put Montgomery up 1-0. Sullivan now has RBIs in four-straight games.
After a wild pitch made it 2-0, Nathan Lukes stood in and clubbed an RBI-double into left field to extend the Biscuits lead to 3-0. Eduar Lopez (1-2) would allow the first Shuckers run in the bottom of the first, but cruised through the second and third innings, preserving the two-run advantage.
But in the fourth, after retiring the first batter on a flyout, the wheels would come off for the 23-year-old right-hander, who surrendered four-straight hits and a sac fly that put Biloxi up for good at 4-3. Austin Wright was then summoned from the bullpen and served up a three-run double to Troy Stokes Jr. later in the inning. A wild pitch would bring home the Shuckers' seventh run of the inning.
Dylan Moore would add the ninth run for Biloxi on an RBI-double in the seventh, and the Biscuits would pull back a couple on a two-run double by Brandon Lowe in the eighth, but it was not enough on this night, as Montgomery lost for the second-straight game.
The Biscuits will try to win their first series of the year in the rubber match on Wednesday morning when Benton Moss (1-1) takes the hill against Thomas Jankins (3-0) at 10:35 AM.
The Biscuits will return to Montgomery on Thursday to open up a five-game series with the Mobile BayBears at 6:35 PM when there will be a T-Shirt giveaway presented by Gipson's Tire Pros. There will be an adjusted start time from 6:35 PM to 12:05 PM for the Friday April 27th Biscuits game against the BayBears to accommodate the large crowds expected for the "Concert for Peace and Justice" taking place at the Riverwalk Amphitheatre later that evening. The weekend will also feature a traveling exhibit from the Negro League Baseball Museum on the concourses of Riverwalk Stadium.
