Blue Jays McGowan to join Bisons

MLB injury rehab assignment to shift to Buffalo
May 17, 2013

The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that RHP DUSTIN McGOWAN will join the Bisons on a Major League injury rehab assignment.

McGowan's rehab assignment will be transferred from Single-A Dunedin, where he has made two scoreless relief appearances this week (2.0 IP, H, 4 SO).

McGowan, 31, missed all of the 2012 season with Toronto with plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Toronto's 1st round pick in the 2000 draft last saw action with the club at the end of the 2011 season, going 0-2 with a 6.43 ERA in five games and four starts with the Blue Jays (21.0 IP, 20 SO). His 2011 campaign also featured MLB rehab stints with Single-A Dunedin and Double-A New Hampshire where he posted a 2.80 ERA in 12 starts combined.

McGowan also missed the entire 2009 and 2010 seasons with Toronto. He sat out the 2009 season recovering from debridement (fraying of the labrum) surgery on July 31, 2008. He had surgery the following year to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder.
