Blue Jays option Gose to Buffalo as Encarnacion ends injury rehab stint

Bisons add LHP Colt Hynes to roster

The Toronto Blue Jays today activated INF EDWIN ENCARNACION off his MLB injury rehabilitation assignment with the Bisons. Toronto also optioned OF ANTHONY GOSE to the Bisons.

Buffalo today announced that LHP COLT HYNES has been activated to the team after being claimed off waivers (Dodgers) by the Blue Jays on Wednesday. C SEAN OCHINKO has been transferred to New Hampshire (AA).

GOSE has played 38 games with the Bisons this season with a .233 (35-150) average, two home runs, 11 RBI and 12 stolen bases. The outfielder began the season with the Herd but has joined the Blue Jays on five separate occasions. Together, Gose has posted a .234 average in 69 games with the Blue Jays with one home run and nine RBI.

HYNES, 29, has spent the season with Triple-A Albuquerque of the Pacific Coast League, posting a 1-3 record with a 4.08 ERA in 42 relief appearances. The Oklahoma City, Oklahoma native made his Major League debut in 2013 for San Diego, appearing in 22 games, recording a 9.00 ERA in 17 innings. In eight minor league seasons, Hynes has posted a 3.64 ERA in 365 games.

Encarnacion was 2-8 with a grand slam in his two games with the Bisons. He was the club's designated hitter on Tuesday night against Norfolk and played all nine innings at first base on Wednesday night against the Tides.

Ochinko hit .231 (6-26) with a home run and five RBI in eight games with Buffalo.
