Blue Jays sign Mike McDade

Switch-hitting first baseman inks minor league deal

The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that they have signed INF MIKE McDADE to a minor league contract. McDade will report to minor league spring training.

McDade, 24, spent all of last season with the Charlotte Knights and hit .254 (90-354) with 18 doubles, 10 home runs and 46 RBI in 94 games. In 2012, he hit .230 (17-74) with four doubles and seven RBI in 21 games for the Columbus Clippers.

The switch-hitting McDade spent the first six years of his professional career in the Blue Jays organization after Toronto selected him in the 6th round of the 2007 June Amateur Draft. McDade reached the Triple-A level for the first time in 2012, hitting .338 with two home runs and 18 RBI in 18 games for the Las Vegas 51s of the Pacific Coast League.
