This gives Celery only 10 more chances to get its first career victory over its competitors Chicken Wing, Atomic Wing and Bleu Cheese as the Bisons are home August 6, August 15-20 and then again on August 28 through August 31. Celery decided to make August 30 its final race in honor of the Bisons 30th Season Celebration Game that night against Pawtucket (7:05 p.m.), and so that it could hold a special Autograph Session during the Herd's final home game in 2017, Fan Appreciation Night on Thursday, August 31.
Since the Wing, Cheese, Celery (or WCC) Race began in 2011, Celery has posted a 0-442 record in the fan-favorite race that has taken place either during or after Bisons games at Coca-Cola Field. The closest the stalky vegetable has come to a win was August 3, 2013, but it was thwarted at the end of the race by 'The Shove,' the infamous last-second push to the ground by five-time WCC Champion, Chicken Wing.

Bisons fans have been celebrating Celery's retirement all season long by following it on twitter (@BisonsCelery) and at Coca-Cola Field, where visiting teams have presented the mascot with several gifts in pregame ceremonies. Even though Celery will no longer compete in the WCC Race following August 30, it plans on continuing to be a ballpark fixture for years to come, meeting with fans and enjoying Bisons baseball from the stands.
The Bisons game on August 30 against Pawtucket is the team's 30th Season Celebration Game, presented by Tops Friendly Markets. Along with postgame Fireworks, the team has planned a number of promotions to celebrate three decades of great memories at Coca-Cola Field. There will be a 2004 Championship Banner Replica Giveaway to the first 3,000 fans in attendance and $1.00 Hot Dogs throughout the game. The team will recap the top players and moments on the BisonsTV HD Scoreboard and the Bisons players will wear retro jerseys from the first season at the ballpark. More details will be announced as the date approaches.
Tickets for the August 30 game are on sale now at Bisons.com and the Coca-Cola Field Box Office. The team is also offering a special 30th Season Celebration Pack that includes two game tickets, two Sahlen's hot dogs, two Coca-Cola soft drinks and two tickets to Opening Day 2018 for only $30 (a savings of over $46). The first 60 fans that buy this pack will also receive a 30th Season logo cooler bag (order now at Bisons.com).
