Former Bison Minarcin passes away

Pitcher won 16 games for 1951 Bisons

The Buffalo Bisons organization was saddened to learn about the passing of former Bisons pitcher Rudy Minarcin.

Minarcin pitched five seasons in the International League (1951, 1954, 1956, 1958-59) with his best season coming in Buffalo. For the 1951 Bisons, the righty was 16-12 with a 3.20 ERA in 33 games. That season, he made 31 starts and tossed an amazing 17 complete games.

Minarcin also appeared in three seasons in the Major Leagues, 1955-1957, winning five games for the Cincinnati Redlegs in 1955. That year, he was a teammate of future Bisons manager, third baseman Rocky Bridges.

Minarcin passed away on October 15 in Cabot, PA at the age of 83.
