Gose's six RBI leads Buffalo past Scranton Wilkes/Barre

It was the Anthony Gose show for the Bisons on Thursday night when the Herd took down the Scranton Wilkes/Barre RailRiders 11-3 at PNC Field to try and inch closer to a playoff berth.

Gose proved to be the secret weapon for Buffalo. The outfielder was a triple away from the cycle. The star of the game went three for five with a single, homer and a double along with a stolen base. Gose has been a huge threat for Buffalo on the bases lately, having seven stolen bases in his last 10 contests.

The Herd's bats were heard on Thursday when they jumped out to the early lead. Scoring 11 runs through the first three frames, with Gose responsible for six of them.

After Buffalo took the early lead, Gose crushed a three-run homer to left to put the Herd up 5-0. The outfielder bombed a high 2-2 fastball and sent it to the seats. It's Gose's second homer in his last six games.

The Herd kept its power and momentum in the following inning. Buffalo mustered six runs off four hits. A.J. Jimenez showed he was healthy in his third day off the disabled list when he tattooed a two-run homer to put the Herd up 7-0. Later in the inning, Dalton Pompey beat out a routine play at first to load the bases up for Gose. Gose lined a double down the right field line to clear the bases for the Herd to extend its lead to eleven.

Meanwhile, Kendall Graveman was being Kendall Graveman. The pitcher exited after 97 pitches and in his 5.1 innings of work, he allowed three runs off seven hits and matched a career high seven strikeouts in his outing.

Before Thursday, The righty has given the Bisons a quality start in each of his first five games at Triple-A. Last Saturday, the 23-year-old allowed just two runs over seven innings of a 15-2 win over Pawtucket. Before Thursday, Graveman issued just three walks in 122 batters faced and has posted a .137 average against right-handed hitters.

Colt Hynes came in to pitch the rest of the sixth and seventh to set up Steve Delabar's shutout eighth. Mike Zagurski came on in the ninth to shutout the RailRaiders and finalized Buffalo's victory.

Buffalo will continue its playoff chase tomorrow night in Rochester with a 7:05pm first pitch. The Bisons have just four games left and are 1.5 games behind Pawtucket for a wild card berth.

Bisons Notes:
RHP Bobby Korecky is now tied with Lehigh Valley's Luis Garcia for most saves in the International League(21). Rob Rasmussen has faced 172 batters this season without allowing a home run. With Thursday's win, the Bisons capture its first season series win over the RailRiders since 2005(9-7). The two clubs split their 16 games last season. A.J. Jimenez ended his day going 2-5 with a homer and two RBI. Dalton Pompey went 2-4 with two RBI along with three runs scored.
