August 8, 2013

Toronto Blue Jays RHP DREW HUTCHISON has joined the Buffalo Bisons in the continuation of his MLB injury rehabilitation assignment and will start for the Herd on Friday, April 9 as the team hosts the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (7:05 p.m.).

Hutchison has not pitched with the Blue Jays since being pulled from his outing on June 15, 2012 against Philadelphia with right elbow soreness. He was diagnosed with a right ulnar collateral ligament sprain that required Tommy John surgery last August. The Blue Jays 15th round pick in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft was 5-3 with a 4.60 ERA in 11 starts with Toronto last season.

This year, Hutchison began his MLB injury rehabilitation assignment on July 14 with Single-A Dunedin of the Florida State League. The righty made three appearances with Dunedin and two more with Double-A New Hampshire. Combined, Hutchison is 0-1 with a 2.76 ERA and has allowed just eight hits in 16.1 innings of work. He has also struck out 22 batters, including seven in 4.1 innings of work in his last outing for New Hampshire, August 4 against Richmond.
