One of the top pitchers in the game joined the Toronto Blue Jays this off-season…and now he will join the Buffalo Bisons Bobble Head family.
Former Herd knuckleballer R.A. Dickey will be honored with his own bobble head! The giveaway will go to the first 3,000 fans through the Swan St. Gate before the Bisons game against the Columbus Clippers on Wednesday, July 24, courtesy of AXA Advisors. The gates will open at 6:00 p.m. for the 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
Tickets for the July 24 will go on sale to the general public at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9. However, Bisons.com will hold a special online pre-sale with no service fees beginning Wednesday, March 6 at 9:00 a.m.
Dickey's rise to stardom began in Buffalo at the start of the 2010 season. A free agent signee by the Mets, Dickey was on the Bisons opening day roster and was one of the best pitchers in the International League before his big league promotion.
In eight games with the Herd, the righty was 4-2 with a 2.23ERA. He will forever be remembered for one of the best single-game pitching performances in Bisons history. On April 29 against Durham, Dickey retired a Buffalo record 27 consecutive batters after allowing a lead-off single to Bulls centerfielder, Fernando Perez. The Bisons won that game 4-0.
