Lawrie joins Bisons on injury rehab

Blue Jays 3B joins team in Syracuse

The Toronto Blue Jays announced today that 3B BRETT LAWRIE has joined the Buffalo Bisons on a Major League injury rehabilitation assignment. Lawrie will be with the Bisons tonight against the Syracuse Chiefs at NBT Bank Stadium (7:00 p.m.).

The Blue Jays placed Lawrie on the disabled list on May 29 with a left ankle sprain (retroactive to May 28). As part of his injury rehab, he has played two games with Single-A Dunedin, two games with Single-A Lansing and three games with Double-A New Hampshire. Combined, Lawrie has hit .300 (6-20) with a double, six RBI and four runs scored. He drove in two runs in each of the last two nights while playing for New Hampshire.

In 37 games with the Blue Jays this season, Lawrie has averaged .209 (29-139) with four doubles, two triples, five home runs and 14 RBI. In 2012, the third baseman hit 26 doubles and 11 home runs and drove in 48 while averaging .273 in 125 games with Toronto.
