Rocks Beat Lake Elsinore 7-4, Extend Winning Streak To Three

Starling, Antonio, Lead Another Blue Crew Offensive Explosion

Surprise, AZ - The Wilmington Blue Rocks are flying high after beating the Lake Elsinore Storm 7-4 Wednesday, their third consecutive win. With the Rocks record now sitting at 6-4-1, the team appears poised to begin the regular season next week on a strong note.

Wilmington's offense once again led the charge Wednesday, with Michael Antonio's 3-3 day standing out the most. Antonio also scored a run and knocked in two. Tyler Chism went 2-4 Wednesday with a double, a run, a stolen base, and an RBI, while Royals No. 8 prospect Bubba Starling hit a home run and walked in his 1-3 day.

On the mound, the Blue Crew received solid performances from Sam Selman, Spencer Patton, and Matt Murray. Selman tossed three scoreless frames, striking out one and walking one. Patton pitched a scoreless inning and allowed just one hit while striking out a batter. Murray turned in the best performance of the three, pitching two scoreless innings and striking out 4.

At the Major League level, both Alex Gordon and Salvador Perez hit solo homers in the Kansas City Royals 9-6 loss to the San Diego Padres. Jack Lopez also collected a pair of hits for the Royals. On the mound, Aaron Crow pitched a perfect inning while Kelvin Herrera pitched a hitless inning. Herrera struck out one and allowed a walk.

At Triple-A Omaha, Lane Adams went 1-1 with a walk in the Storm Chasers 5-1 loss to El Paso. On the mound, John Lamb pitched five sparkling innings while allowing just one earned run on four hits. Lamb also struck out three. Chase Boruff and Michael Mariot each pitched a perfect inning in relief. Boruff struck out two, Mariot struck out one and neither walked a batter. Double-A Northwest Arkansas was off yesterday.
