Rocky Bluewinkle and Mr. Celery Attend Taste of Delaware Celebration

Blue Rocks Mascots Rub Shoulders With Local and National VIPs in Nation's Capital
December 9, 2016

Washington, DC -- The Wilmington Blue Rocks learned how to celebrate Delaware Day in style on Wednesday in Washington DC. Blue Crew mascots Rocky Bluewinkle and Mr. Celery made the journey to the nation's capital and entertained patrons at the sixth annual Taste of Delaware celebration at the Russell Senate Office.

To mark the anniversary of Delaware becoming the first state to ratify the U.S. Constitution in 1787, the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce throws a party each year that's hosted by the state's senate delegation. The party features local food and spirits and represents the best that is offered throughout the first state.

Mr. Celery and Rocky Bluewinkle spent the evening hobnobbing with local and national dignitaries including Vice President Joe Biden, Senators Chris Coons and Tom Carper as well as Congressman and Governor-elect John Carney. Despite all of the famous faces in attendance, the two mascots arguably drew as much attention as anyone, and loved every second in the limelight.

"You know it's a big night when Mr. Celery is willing to leave Frawley Stadium," said Blue Rocks Director of Web & Creative Services Mike Diodati. "He's pretty comfortable staying at home, but this event really felt like an extension of the best Delaware has to offer. We were honored to be invited and to participate in the fun."

Season seats, mini plans and group packages for the Blue Rocks' 25th season are on sale now. The team has also unveiled its annual holiday package which are available either online or at Quarry Team Store. For more information, please see the team's website at BlueRocks.com.
