Wilmington, DE - The Carolina League has announced that Wilmington Blue Rocks center fielder Bubba Starling is the league's Player of the Week for June 16-22.

In the first four games after the All-Star Break, Starling hit .474 (9-for-19) with a home run, a triple, two doubles, five runs and four RBIs.

Starling, who resides in Gardner, Kansas, was selected fifth overall by the Kansas City Royals in the First Round of the 2011 Draft. He spent the 2012 season with Rookie-Level Burlington and the 2013 season with Low-A Lexington. Starling hit .275 with 10 homers and 33 RBIs for Burlington and hit .241 with 13 homers and 63 RBIs for Lexington.

So far this season, Starling is batting .205 with four homers and 34 RBIs for the Blue Rocks. He has also doubled 15 times, tripled three times, stolen nine bases and drawn 26 walks.

Starling is one of three Blue Rocks to have garnered Carolina League recognition this season. Right-handed starter Christian Binford has been named Pitcher of the Week three times in 2014, while third baseman Hunter Dozier was named Player of the Week once prior to his promotion to Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

Wilmington returns to action Monday night at Harry Grove Stadium in Frederick. The Blue Rocks will send Binford (4-3, 2.19) to the mound while the Keys will counter with fellow right-hander Branden Kline (3-2, 3.33). First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m. and fans can listen to the broadcast on 89.7 WGLS-FM. The Rocks return home on Wednesday, June 25, to open up a three-game homestand against the Lynchburg Hillcats. For tickets, call 302-888-BLUE or visit BlueRocks.com.
