September 2, 2013

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws finished their 13th season at the Jersey Shore with their 13th consecutive South Atlantic League attendance title.

The team drew 400,299 fans in 2013, bringing their franchise total to 5,649,015.

"We are very proud to once again lead the South Atlantic League and New Jersey in attendance," said BlueClaws General Manager Brandon Marano. "This means a great deal to our staff and our fans, but also shows that BlueClaws fans at the Jersey Shore continue to be the best in Minor League Baseball."

In 2013, there were five sell-out crowds of 8,000. On 24 occasions, the attendance exceeded the ballpark's reserve seat capacity of 6,588. Finally, the BlueClaws had 38 crowds of at least 6,000 fans (four more than last year).

Among the season highlights was an August 20th rehab appearance at FirstEnergy Park by Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay, which drew a sell-out crowd and kicked off a six-game homestand that drew over 42,000 fans to FirstEnergy Park, with each crowd consisting of at least 6,000 fans.

The BlueClaws welcomed several athletes and celebrities to games this year, including former MLB players Cecil Fielder and Mookie Wilson, Saved by the Bell's Dennis Haskins, wrestling legend Jerry "The King" Lawler, and Rutgers head football coach Kyle Flood.

The BlueClaws also hosted the 2013 South Atlantic League All-Star Game on June 18th and Celebrity Hitting Challenge on June 17th. It was the second time they hosted the All-Star Game and first time any SAL team turned the event into a two-day affair, with the BlueClaws holding a successful hitting challenge, featuring two teams of 15 celebrities and All-Stars. (Please note, the attendance for these two events is NOT included in the season number noted above.)

"It was another successful summer and we're already full-speed ahead getting ready for 2014," said Marano.

The BlueClaws have released their 2014 schedule, with the home opener on Thursday, April 10th against Hagerstown. The 2014 schedule includes 11 Fridays and 11 Saturdays, with appearances by 11 of the possible 13 opponents. Affiliates of the Yankees, Mets, and Red Sox will all visit FirstEnergy Park next year.

2014 BlueClaws ticket packages are currently on sale by calling 732-901-7000 option 3. A detailed list of ticket packages, benefits, and gifts will be released in the coming weeks.
