LAKEWOOD, NJ - Will Stewart gave up four hits over six scoreless innings to lead the BlueClaws to an Opening Night win, 2-0 over Delmarva on Thursday at FirstEnergy Park.
The Shorebirds (7-1), who had won their first seven games of the season, had 2nd and 3rd with nobody out in the ninth off Kyle Dohy, but the lefty got a pair of strikeouts. Manager Marty Malloy then turned it over to Luis Ramirez, who got Trevor Craport to ground out to end the game.Ramirez, who saved 11 last year with Williamsport, got his first save of 2018. 
The BlueClaws (4-4) got back to .500 with their third straight win and improved to 4-14 all time in their home openers. Stewart, a 20th round pick in 2015, has not allowed an earned run in 11 innings so far this year. 
The BlueClaws got on the board in the fourth inning on a home run to left center from Quincy Nieporte, his first of the season and sixth professional home run.
Lakewood added a run in the fifth inning on a SAC fly from Dalton Guthrie.
Jonathan Hennigan threw 1-2-3 innings in the seventh and eighth for the BlueClaws.
Delmarva starter Cameron Bishop (1-1) gave up two runs over seven innings.
Simon Muzziotti and Cole Stobbe each had two hits for the BlueClaws.
The BlueClaws and Shorebirds continue their series on Friday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Spencer Howard (0-0) makes his second start of the season for the BlueClaws.
