Claws Fall 6-1 to Hagerstown on Sunday Afternon

Lakewood drops 7th straight; swept in series by Suns
April 13, 2014

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Jake Johansen and Ryan Ullman combined on a three-hitter as Hagerstown completed a four-game sweep of the BlueClaws with a 6-1 win on Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Park.

The BlueClaws (2-8) have now dropped seven straight games since their last win on April 5th at Savannah, losing three in Greensboro before dropping four straight to Hagerstown (9-2).

Hagerstown scored once in the 2nd inning on an RBI double from Estarlin Martinez. The Suns, a Nationals affiliate, added four more in the 3rd inning - RBI doubles by Isaac Ballou and Wilmer Difo and a two-run single by John Wooten.

That was more than enough for Johansen (1-0) who gave up a run in five innings while striking out six. Ryan Ullman threw the last four innings for his first save.

The BlueClaws loaded the bases with none out in the fifth inning, getting a run when JP Crawford grounded into a double play.

Shane Martin (0-2) started the game for the BlueClaws and went six innings, allowing six runs on 10 hits. Six innings tied a career-long outing for Martin, who matched that twice last year with Williamsport.

Manaure Martinez threw two scoreless innings and Yacksel Rios threw one scoreless inning in relief for the BlueClaws.

The crowd of 7,531 was the largest of Opening Weekend.

The BlueClaws will welcome in Greensboro (Marlins) for a three-game series that begins Monday night at 6:35. Mark Leiter, Jr. (1-1, 1.50) starts for Lakewood against LHP Jarlin Garcia (2-0, 0.90).

The first 2,000 fans on Monday will receive a Magnetic Schedule thanks to Waterside Gardens Apartments.
