Cozens Homers, Triples in 7-5 Win

Claws snap four-game losing streak

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Dylan Cozens broke a 5-5 tie with an RBI triple in the bottom of the 8th inning as the BlueClaws topped Charleston 7-5 on Tuesday night at FirstEnergy Park.

Cozens, who homered earlier in the game, finished 2-4 with two RBIs and scored his second run when Willians Astudillo singled through a drawn-in infield after Cozens' triple, extending his hitting streak to 9 and scoring Cozens to finish the scoring.

Cody Forsythe, who pitched the 8th, threw a scoreless 9th to earn his first win of the season.

JP Crawford, Cozens, and Andrew Pullin all had two hits for Lakewood, who snapped a four-game losing streak and evened the three-game series with Charleston at one game apiece.

Lakewood starter Tyler Viza allowed three runs in six innings and left with a 5-3 lead before the RiverDogs tied the game with two runs in the 8th inning off Julio Reyes.

Lakewood took the lead with two first inning runs. JP Crawford scored on a wild pitch and Carlos Tocci scored on an error by third baseman Miguel Andujar.

The BlueClaws got home runs from Wilmer Oberto (1) in the 2nd inning and Cozens (2) in the 6th inning.

The series concludes on Wednesday morning with an 11:05 game. Lakewood's RHP Alejandro Arteaga (1-2, 6.23) opposes RHP Brady Lail (1-1, 6.14).
