Rutherford's home run, his second of the season, hit off the chain-link fence atop the padded wall and gave Charleston their only two runs of the game and their second straight ninth-inning comeback win over Lakewood.
The RiverDogs (17-6/51-42) scored three in the ninth to top Lakewood (10-13/50-43) on Saturday night. The two games were just the second and third times all year the BlueClaws lost a game they led entering the ninth inning.
Hibbs fell to 5-2 with the loss while Charleston's Cristian Morris (4-1) earned the win with two innings of relief, allowing one run.
