High School HR Derby to Put Two Into Hitting Challenge

Derby to take place at Shore Conference All-Star Game on June 13th
June 5, 2013

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Eight of the leading home run hitters in the Shore Conference will take part in a Home Run Derby as part of the Shore Conference All-Star Game at FirstEnergy Park on June 13th, with the top two finishers earning a spot in the June 17th Celebrity Hitting Challenge.

The High School Home Run Derby will begin at 5:30, with the Shore Conference All-Star Game to follow at 7:00 pm. Admission to the event is $5 per person and also includes admission to the Shore Conference All-Star Game.

Participants: Joe Salder (Holmdel), Kyle Cala (Brick Memorial), Russell Messler (Toms River South), Christian Danyo (Toms River East), Joe Rotelli (St John Vianney), Evan Pietronico (St John Vianney), Matthew Thaiss (Jackson Memorial), Ryan Prout (Point Pleasant Boro).

The top two finishers will participate in the June 17th Celebrity Hitting Challenge at FirstEnergy Park, an event that takes place the day before the 54th South Atlantic League All-Star Game.

The Celebrity Hitting Challenge includes two teams of athletes (including Mickey Morandini, Matt Stairs, Doc Gooden, Mitch Williams, Pepper Johnson, Bruce Harper), entertainers (Artie Lange, Jim Florentine and local radio personalities), South Atlantic League All-Stars and more.

The field will be filled with different targets and the teams will earn points for hitting each target.
