May 16, 2013

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Closing in on the ClawStar Spectacular in June, the BlueClaws are excited to announce that former Villanova Wildcat Randy Foye and 2013 Giants first-round pick Justin Pugh have been added as participants in the June 17th Celebrity Hitting Challenge at FirstEnergy Park.

The Celebrity Hitting Challenge, which begins at 7:05 pm, comes one day before the 54th South Atlantic League All-Star Game, also at FirstEnergy Park. Both events are presented by Kimball and Community Medical Centers, OceanFirst Bank, and Shore Point Distributing.

Foye was born in Newark and went to East Side High School. He played collegiately at Villanova University. As a senior at Villanova, he was a First-Team All-American and Big East Player of the Year while helping the Wildcats reach the Elite Eight. He was selected 7th overall in the 2006 NBA Draft and has played for Minnesota, Washington, and the Clippers before spending the 2012-2013 season with Utah.

He also runs the Randy Foye Foundation, an organization that raises funds and develops programs and projects aimed at directly improving the lives of youths in Foye's hometown of Newark. More information on the Randy Foye Foundation can be found at RandyFoye.org.

Pugh was selected by the Giants in the first round (19th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft after playing collegiately at Syracuse. He started 34 games in his collegiate career and was named Second-Team All-Big East in 2010 and First-Team in 2011 and 2012.

He played in high school at Council Rock South in Holland, Pennsylvania and was a recipient of the Maxwell Award, recognizing tri-state (PA, NJ, DEL) seniors that excel in athletics, academics, and community service.

This Celebrity Hitting Challenge is a unique hitting contest with special targets scattered all across the field. Among the participants are former Phillies Mickey Morandini, Matt Stairs, and Mitch Williams, former Met and Yankee Doc Gooden, former Giants linebacker Pepper Johnson, former Jets running back Bruce Harper, and comedians Artie Lange and Jim Florentine, and more.

The Celebrity Hitting Challenge also has an on-field VIP area where fans can enjoy the event from behind protective netting on the infield while taking part in an all-you-can-eat buffet and open bar.

Both reserve ($10) and VIP tickets ($75) are available by calling 732-901-7000 option 2.
