Donation largest received to date by BlueClaws Charities for Sandy relief
November 21, 2012
LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws would like to thank Minor League Baseball ™ Charities for a $10,000 donation to BlueClaws Charities "Restore The Shore" efforts.

The donation is the largest received to date by BlueClaws Charities for Sandy relief.

"Our leagues and clubs are like family and we come to each other's aid in times of crisis," said Pat O'Conner, President of Minor League Baseball. "We will provide as much assistance as we can to those in need. Hopefully, our efforts, combined with those of our leagues and clubs, will expedite the recovery of our clubs and their communities that were affected by Hurricane Sandy."

MiLB Charities also donated $15,000 to the New York Penn League Foundation to assist the Staten Island Yankees and Brooklyn Cyclones in relief efforts, and they made a $5,000 donation to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation to help with an event that provides meals to displaced families for Thanksgiving.

"This came as a surprise to us but we're obviously thrilled that Minor League Baseball Charities is helping us as well as our neighbors in Brooklyn and Staten Island with relief efforts," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "This is a significant step for us and we're quite grateful."

The BlueClaws and Atlantic Physical Therapy have partnered on relief efforts through a t-shirt drive through BlueClaws.com/Restore.

Businesses are asked to order shirts for their staffs, who can wear them on "Restore The Shore Fridays" (every Friday through Memorial Day). Employees make a donation for each Friday they wear the shirt and then those donations can be matched by the employers.

In early 2013, impacted families will be able to fill out an application and donations will be made to as many families as possible.

The MiLB Charities donation will go exclusively towards this program.
