Phillies Winter Tour Returns on January 23rd

Charlie Manuel leads strong guest lineup

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The annual Phillies Winter Tour is coming back to Lakewood, with the event taking place on Wednesday, January 23rd at Woodlake Country Club, just minutes from FirstEnergy Park. Phillies manager Charlie Manuel and infielder Kevin Frandsen lead the list of guests.

Doors open at 6 pm and the program will begin shortly thereafter. Dinner is served at 7 pm. Tickets are $40 per person, and include a three-course meal. To register, call Lindsay Lubeck at 732-901-7000 ext 100.

"This event always means that we are really getting close to baseball season," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "The Phillies are again sending a great group of guests and this is a great event to raise money for BlueClaws Charities."

The event will be headlined Philadelphia manager Charlie Manuel, who enters his 9th season at the helm of the Phillies. Manuel is the winningest manger in franchise history and guided the Phillies to the 2008 World Series title among five postseason appearances. Prior to managing the Phillies, Manuel led the Indians from 2000-2002.

Kevin Frandsen hit .338 in 55 games with the Phillies this year after hitting .302 in 99 games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The California native was originally drafted by the Giants in 2004 out of San Jose State University.

BONUS: At each year's event, the BlueClaws and Phillies offer a series of raffle prizes that can be won by the guests at the event. This year, the Phillies have supplied the following: Ryan Howard and Chase Utley signed bats, Jonathan Papelbon and Cliff Lee signed baseballs.

The Phillies will also be represented by four members of their front office.

Benny Looper, Assistant General Manager of Player Personnel, will be at the event. Looper as been in his current position since November of 2008 after joining the Phillies from the Seattle organization. He oversees the scouting and player development departments.

Scott Proefrock, Assistant General Manager, also joined the Phillies in November of 2008 and assists General Manager Ruben Amaro in trades, free agent acquisitions, contract negotiations, and more.

Joe Jordan enters his second season as the Director of Player Development after coming over from the Orioles organization.

Steve Noworyta, Assistant Director of Minor League Operations, has been with the Phillies since 1996 after 16 years in the White Sox organization as a player and executive.

All proceeds from the event benefit BlueClaws Charities, the BlueClaws official non-profit 501c3 organization. BlueClaws Charities has donated over $500,000 to local non-profit organizations and fundraising events in the last four years.

Guests can choose their main course between chicken francese, roast prime rib, and herb crusted salmon. There will also be a cash bar.
