LAKEWOOD, NJ - Sixto Sanchez gave up one run over six innings and Henri Lartigue homered as the BlueClaws toppled Rome 6-1 on Wednesday night.
Sanchez, who improved to 4-3 on the season, struck out four and gave up just three hits in the win.
Lakewood improved to 9-11/49-41 on the year, opening their three-game series with the Braves (7-10/45-42) with a win.
The BlueClaws got on the board in the second inning when Luke Williams scored from second on an infield single by Juan Luis for a 1-0 lead.
Lakewood added three more in the third on a SAC fly by Darick Hall and two-run Henri Lartigue home run. Hall's RBI gave him 68 on the year, most in the league, while Lartigue's home run was his sixth of the season.
Sanchez, meanwhile, did not allow a hit until a single by Kurt Hoekstra in the fifth. Rome got their run off him in the sixth, with Randy Ventura scoring on a groundout by Austin Bush.
Juan Luis added an RBI single in the sixth and Henri Lartigue an RBI double in the seventh for the BlueClaws.
Arquimedes Gamboa had three hits in the win while Lartigue, Luke Williams, and Juan Luis all had two hits for the BlueClaws.
Greensboro starter Tucker Davidson (2-4) took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings of work.
The series with Rome continues on Thursday night. RHP Mauricio Llovera (1-0) starts for Lakewood opposite LHP Joey Wentz (4-3).
