Bluefield sweep Braves in doubleheader

Four straight for the Jays

BLUEFIELD--- The Jays swept the Danville Braves in a doubleheader Thursday, winning 2-0 and 5-3.

Osman Gutierrez struck out seven while only allowing two hits in the full seven innings in Game 1. Javier Monzon knotched an RBI on a single to score Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Ridge Smith homered for the third time this season in Game 2 to give the Jays a 3-0 lead on a two-run shot in to left field. Monzon also added a triple while Sinay scored twice in the 5-3 lead.

Kyle Weatherly improved to 3-0 on the year after 5.0 IP in Game 2. Angel Alicea was awarded the save after pitching the final two innings of Game 2, striking out three.

With the wins, the Blue Jays have now improved to 21-19 on the year and will play Danville at 7:05 Wednesday.
