Blue Jays take series opener in Danville

Guerrero homers for 8th time

DANVILLE, Va---The Blue Jays improved to 32-24 on with a 7-4 win over the Danville Braves Sunday.

The scoring got started in the top of the 6th when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. smacked his 8th home run on the season, a two-run shot that put the Jays up 2-0.

After the Braves scored a run in the bottom half of the 6th, the Blue Jays poured 5 runs on in the 7th. Lance Jones cleared the loaded bases with a double, and was knocked in by Guerrero on a single. 

Osman Gutierrez earned his fourth win on the season. The right-hander went 6.0 IP giving up 4 ER and fanned three Braves in the win. Angel Alicea closed the game for Bluefield and earned his fourth save on the season after pitching two scoreless innings.

The Blue Jays will play Danville Monday at 7:00 PM.
