Boise Hawks, Colorado Rockies Announce Opening Day Roster

Twelve former Hawks Round Out the Squad

BOISE, ID - The Boise Hawks, in conjunction with the Colorado Rockies, have announced their Northwest League Opening Day roster for this season. Familiar faces will be back with the Hawks, with 12 former Hawks returning to the Treasure Valley to start 2018.


Pitchers Pearson McMahan, Alec Byrd, Mike Bunal, Keinter Olivares; Catcher Hidekel Gonzalez; Infielders Luis Castro, LJ Hatch, Danny Edgeworth; and Outfielder JB Moss, Daniel Jipping, Cole Anderson and Aubrey McCarty are all returning after spending time with the Hawks last season.


The Rockies' first round picks from 2015 and 2016 (Mike Nikorak, 2015's 27th overall and Riley Pint, 2016's 4th overall) will begin their season's in Boise. Nikorak spent 2017 recovering from Tommy John surgery. Pint spent last season in Asheville, NC within the Rockies organization.


This will be Daniel Jipping's second season with Boise as he comes back after a successful 2017 campaign with the Hawks. Jipping hit 11 home runs in 51 games last season. The Canton, MI native won the Northwest League / Pioneer League All Star Game's Home Run Derby in Hillsboro last season.


Rounding out the team are Pitchers Shelby Lackey, Javier Medina, Hayden Roberts, Jefry Valdez, Jefri Ocando, Hunter Williams, Carlos Polanco, Colten Schmidt, Mike Nikorak, Riley Pint, Nick Bush, Boby Johnson, Eric Hepple, PJ Poulin, Joel Condreay and Miguel Ausua. Along with Gonzalez, Greg Jones will do the catching. Also, Infielders Jeff Bohling, Kennard McDowell, Robert Metz and Carl Harris are on the team. Lastly, Outfielders Matt Hearn and Luke Morgan have reported to Boise.
