FORT WAYNE, IN - It took until the ninth inning to break the tie, but the Bowling Green Hot Rods got the best of the Fort Wayne TinCaps with a 4-3 win. The win gives the Hot Rods the win in the series, and they will go for the sweep tomorrow.
The Hot Rods scored in the first inning once again when 2B Vidal Brujan leadoff the game with a single, and stole second, stole third, and scored on a wild pitch to put the Hot Rods on top of the TinCaps 1-0.
In the second inning the Hot Rods extended their lead when 1B Devin Davis and CF Carl Chester both singled, and RF Eleardo Cabrera brought them both home with a double and made the score 3-0 in favor of Bowling Green.
Fort Wayne fought back, and got their first hit of the game in the third inning with a solo home run from RF Jack Suwinski , and then in the same inning CF Jeisson Rosario scored LF Robbie Podorsky with a triple and the score was 3-2.
The TinCaps tied the game up in the fifth inning when 1B Nick Feight leadoff with a double, and scored on a single from Podorsky.
The Hot Rods threatened to score a run in the top of the fifth when they loaded the bases with just one out, but LHP Fred Schlichtholz worked out of the jam to keep the Hot Rods from adding on. He threw one and two thirds innings in the game and only allowed one hit.
The game would stayed tied and 3-3 until the ninth inning thanks to a nice effort from RHP Kyle Goodbrand who threw two innings and only allowed one hit. It took until the top of the ninth inning until the Hot Rods broke the tie, when C Ronaldo Hernandez crushed a ball 410 feet to left field to make the score 4-3.
