Bowling Green, Kentucky– Heriberto Hernandez’s four RBIs aren’t enough as the Bowling Green Hot Rods (22-13, 63-37) drop the final game of a six-game set against the Greensboro Grasshoppers (17-18, 44-56) 11-7 at Bowling Green Ballpark on Sunday. The Hot Rods will take Monday off before traveling to Winston-Salem for a six-game series.

An errant pickoff attempt at first base allowed Greensboro to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the third. That lead was short-lived, however, as Hernandez’s two-out three-run home run off Greensboro starter Sean Sullivan put the Hot Rods ahead 3-1. Bowling Green added a run in the fifth off of Greensboro reliever Jack Carey on an RBI single by Johan Lopez to make it 4-1. A three-run double in the sixth tied things up for the Grasshoppers and they took the lead in the seventh by a 7-4 margin.

The Hot Rods mounted a comeback in the seventh, plating two runs off of Greensboro reliever Santiago Flores with a Hernandez RBI single and Logan Driscoll sacrifice-fly to cut the deficit to 7-6. Greensboro scored again in the eighth to retake a two-run lead at 8-6. Gionti Turner smacked an opposite-field home run off of Grasshoppers reliever Eddy Yean to bring Bowling Green within one, but Greensboro stormed back in the ninth with three runs to seal the win in the series finale with an 11-7 victory.

Logan Workman went 4.0 innings in a no-decision, allowing one run on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Conor Dryer allowed three runs on two hits with one walk and a strikeout in 2.0 innings. Cameron Leonard (2-3) took the loss in 0.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Nomar Rojas allowed four runs on seven hits in 1.2 innings with one strikeout. Franklin Dacosta threw 0.2 innings with one strikeout.
