BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods fell to the Lake County Captains for the first time since April by a score of 10-7. An eight run top of the third was too much for the Hot Rods to battle back from, as their winning streak stops at 13.
In the top of the third inning SS Tyler Friis worked a leadoff walk to get the inning started. 3B Nolan Jones put the Captains on the board with a two run home run. A walk, single, and another walk loaded the bases for LF Jose Medina who kept the line moving with an RBI single. 1B Ulysses Cantu worked an RBI walk, and then 2B JJ Berardi opened the game up with an RBI single. He advanced to third and the bases cleared due to an error and it was 7-0. Friis scored Berardi on a sac fly to cap off the eight run frame.
The Hot Rods got on the board in the bottom of the fifth, when C Alexander Alvarez smoked an RBI triple. The Captains brought the lead back to eight in the top of the sixth when Friis leadoff with a triple of his own, and CF Oscar Gonzalez scored him with an RBI error.
Bowling Green made the game interesting in the seventh inning when DH Taylor Walls scored 2B Vidal Brujan on a double, and SS Zach Rutherford followed up with an RBI single. RF Eleardo Cabrera cut the deficit to four with a two run home run that flew over the scoreboard in right field with a distance of 405.
In the bottom of the ninth and trailing 10-5, the Hot Rods put up their final stand. Brujan worked a leadoff walk, and scored on a double from Walls who scored on a balk.  Rutherford walked before RHP Riley Echols got a double play to clear the bases and put the Hot Rods on the ropes. 1B Devin Davis doubled and 3B Trey Hair singled to bring the tying run to the plate. CF Emilio Gustave smoked a line drive, but it was right into the glove of the leaping Friis and the Captains held on for the win.
The Hot Rods and Captains conclude their four games series tomorrow in Bowling Green. First pitch will be at 2:05pm CST. Starting pitchers for the game have not been announced.
