Late Run Push Hot Rods Past Bandits 4-3

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods took game one against the Quad Cities River Bandits in comeback fashion, with a 4-3 win. The River Bandits got out to an early 3-0 lead, but the Hot Rods scored the tying run in the seventh, and go ahead run in the eighth to earn win number 63 on the season.
Quad Cities jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when an RBI single from 1B Colton Shaver scored 3B Alfredo Angarita . They got two more run in the second inning when Angarita scored one, and RF Seth Beer brought home Angarita and it was 3-0.
The Hot Rods waited until the fifth inning to get the offense started. CF Carl Chester was hit by a pitch, then score on a double from 2B Vidal Brujan . SS Taylor Walls doubled home Brujan and the Hot Rods were within one run.
Bowling Green tied up the game in the seventh when Chester doubled and was brought home by Walls.  They took the lead in the eighth when C Ronaldo Hernandez scored on a sac fly off the bat of RF Eleardo Cabrera and the Hot Rods had their first lead of the game.
LHP Andrew Gist made his Hot Rods debut and threw four inning out of the pen and only allowed one hit while striking out four. RHP Phoenix Sanders pitched the final three innings and allowed two hits and one walk while striking out five. He also earned his fifth win of the season.
The Hot Rods will try and win the series tomorrow. First pitch will be at 2:05pm CST and the Hot Rods will send RHP Austin Franklin (6-4, 3.39). He will be opposed by RHP Jairo Solis (0-3, 3.00).
