BRADENTON, Fla. - On Military Appreciation Night at LECOM Park on Saturday, a back and forth affair between the Bradenton Marauders and the Charlotte Stone Crabs ended with a Hunter Owen walkoff double. The 7-6 final was thanks in part to a grand slam home run clubbed by MLB rehabber Jung Ho Kang in the five run fifth inning that was matched with five runs by the visitors in the very next frame. Hunter Owen finished his big night at the plate with four hits including a trio of singles and his sixth home run of the 2018 season.
Casey Hughston went long for the first time this year in the third inning to tie the game at a run apiece before Bradenton struck for five runs in the fifth inning. Four of the runs scored on Jung Ho Kang's first hit in two games with the Marauders and was followed three batters later on Owen's solo shot with two outs. The Stone Crabs unloaded for five runs of their own in the top of the sixth, including a three run homer by Tristan Gray that ended James Marvel's night with a no decision.
Jung Ho Kang led off the bottom of the ninth with a single to right before being pinch ran for by Adrian Valerio. Valerio advanced to second when Arden Pabst walked, setting up Hunter Owen's walkoff double beyond the Charlotte outfield corps, who were stationed shallow prior to the hit.
The Marauders finish their three game set tomorrow at 1:00 pm, with LHP Oddy Nunez on the hill for the home side and will be opposed by RHP JD Busfield for the Stone Crabs in a spot start.
