Bradenton, Fla. - The Bradenton Marauders will host a "Geekend" filled with fun on Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21. Bradenton will celebrate Heroes and Villains Night on Friday and Star Wars Night on Saturday. First pitch for both games at LECOM Park are at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 on Friday and 5:00 on Saturday. The Marauders host the Daytona Tortugas (Cincinnati Reds) on both nights.
Heroes and Villains Night will feature character appearances from several stalwart heroes and notorious evildoers. Famous characters like Batman, the Joker, and Catwoman will be roaming LECOM Park. Fans are encouraged to dress up as their favorite hero or villain. The game will feature a fan costume contest for best hero and best villain, so dress to impress!
Friday is also a MySuncoast Bark in the Park game. Doggie admission is $2, which will be donated to the Humane Society of Manatee County. There will be a costume contest for canine heroes and villains that dress up as well!
Saturday night the Marauders will wear unique Star Wars jerseys depicting Chewbacca. The jerseys will be auctioned off via the LiveSource app, with winners invited onto the field to receive the jersey and have it autographed postgame. A portion of proceeds will benefit The American Cancer Society.
The LiveSource app can be downloaded in the Apple App Store and via Google Play. Prospective bidders who download the app must register with a credit card as a method of payment. Once registered, fans seeking to bid should set their location in the app as "Bradenton, FL" to view the Marauders' auction. The Marauders reserve the right to remove an item from silent auction bidding and hold a live auction between two competing bidders near the close of the auction to resolve closely alternating bids between in-person bidders.
Fans will also be able to interact and take pictures with lifelike Star Wars characters provided by the 501st Legion. The Legion is an all-volunteer organization promoting interest in Star Wars and helping to benefit the local communities in which it operates through high-quality costumed appearances.
Zambelli Fireworks will launch a spectacular postgame fireworks display sponsored by Budweiser. Season ticket holders, All-You-Can-Eat Plan A holders, and any group ticket purchasers will be invited onto the field to view the fireworks.
The LECOM Park box office hours are Tuesday-Friday non-gamedays from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. On gamedays the box office will be open on weekdays from 11:00 a.m. until the end of the game and on Saturdays from 3:30 until the end of the game. The box office will open two hours prior to Sunday games and 10:30 a.m. games.
