DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - In the first game of a three game weekend set on the road in Daytona, the Bradenton Marauders defeated the Daytona Tortugas on Margaritaville Night at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. James Marvel turned in another outstanding performance en route to his team leading ninth win of the season by spinning seven innings exactly for his third consecutive outing. The Bradenton bats were active if only for a brief spell in between the third and fourth innings to the tune of nine runs, which would be all the offense the road side would require in the victory.

James Marvel was masterful in his seventeenth outing of the year as the former Duke Blue Devil breezed through seven innings for the third straight start en route to a comfortable victory. The only two runs that scored on the righty were unearned in his second to last frame of work in the sixth. The win also included a stretch of five consecutive batters struck out in a row for the last two outs of the home half of the fourth and all three outs in the fifth.

Seven of the Marauders' nine runs were brought around on a pair of home runs including a grand slam by Hunter Owen, his second of the year, in the third inning and an Albert Baur follow-up three run blast in the very next inning to cap the scoring for the visitors at nine runs. It was the eleventh long ball of the year for both corner infielders and Baur extended his team lead in the RBI category to 46 on the season. Brett Pope recorded four singles in four at bats to raise his batting average in limited at bats with Bradenton to an even .400.

The Marauders continue their three game weekend set at Daytona on Saturday night with RHP Gavin Wallace set to make his second start in a Bradenton uniform at 7:05 from "The Jack".
