BRADENTON, FL - Coming off their first series sweep of the 2019 season against Jupiter, the Marauders fell in the first game of a three game series against the defending Florida State League champion Fort Myers Miracle on Monday night at LECOM Park. RHP Randy Dobnak extended his scoreless streak to 17 innings to start the season as the Pittsburgh native held the Marauders off the board for six innings, allowing five hits spread out across six innings of work.

The visitors got the scoring started in the top half of the third inning with a pair of unearned runs coring off Bradenton starter LHP Oddy Nunez, who no-hit the Miracle on June 24th of last season, and worked across another two runs in the very next frame without the benefit of a hit. Nunez walked three of his eventual four walks in the game in the fourth inning, and Fort Myers plated their final runs on a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch before Nunez retired the side in the fifth in order and watched as a pair of bullpen arms held the Miracle off the board in the final five innings. RHP Hunter Stratton turned in another multi-inning performance in relief, tossing three innings scoreless on two hits, and RHP Ryan Valdes kept his perfect 0.00 ERA on the season by turning in a scoreless top half of the ninth inning.

The only Marauders offense in the defeat was on the second home run of the year from #4 Pirates prospect OF Travis Swaggerty in the bottom of the eighth inning on a shot to right center field that travelled 419 feet with an exit velocity of 101.3 MPH.

Bradenton and Fort Myers will do battle again on Tuesday night with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 pm at LECOM Park with RHP Max Kranick toeing the slab for the home side.
