BRADENTON, Fla. — Trailing 5-4 entering the ninth inning, the Marauders rallied back to a walkoff win, 6-5, over the Daytona Tortugas on Friday night at LECOM Park.

With right-hander Frainger Aranguren (2-2) on the mound and the Tortugas leading, 5-4, Jase Bowen was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the ninth for the Marauders. After Sammy Siani flied out to center field, Ernny Odonez singled to left-center, moving Bowen to third. Brett Lockwood then entered to pitch and got Dariel Lopez to hit a weak dribbler to the third-base side. Lockwood grabbed the ball but was unable to make a throw to any base, allowing Bowen to score the tying run. After Norkis Marcos struck out, Eli Wilson knocked a hard grounder into center field, plating pinch-runner Jake Snider for the winning run for the Marauders (22-12).

The win was the Marauders’ third in a row, and the team’s second walkoff victory of the season. Logan Hofmann (3-0) earned the win in relief for Bradenton, pitching four scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and one walk. He struck out a career-best nine batters, a new season-high among Marauders relievers.

The Tortugas (14-20) had built a two-run lead after two-and-a-half innings against Marauders starter Domingo Gonzalez with a Garrett Wolforth first-inning solo homer and a Gus Steiger RBI-double in the second. But the Marauders chipped away, getting an RBI-double from Yoyner Fajardo in the bottom of the second, a game-tying solo home run by Sammy Siani in the third, and a go-ahead solo homer by Alexander Mojica in the fourth for a 4-3 Bradenton advantage.

But Daytona fought back immediately in the fifth for a 5-3 lead, getting a go-ahead two-run single by Michel Triana and an RBI-single by Wendell Marrero, both of which came off Marauders reliever Ryan Troutman.

Ordonez provided an RBI-groundout for the Marauders in the fifth that trimmed Bradenton’s deficit to 5-4.

Seven of nine players in the Marauders’ lineup hit safely in the game, with four players recording two hits each.

The series continues Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. at LECOM Park. RHP Jared Jones (1-0, 1.17 ERA) will start for the Marauders against RHP Case Williams (0-2, 5.89 ERA) for the Tortugas.
