Bristol Pirates Prepare for Upcoming Season

July 26, 2016

The Bristol Pirates will return home to Boyce Cox Field Thursday evening, July 28, for a doubleheader with the Elizabethton Twins. Gates for the first game, starting at 6 pm, will open at 5:30 pm.

The ballpark beer garden, known as Home Run Alley, will feature $2 drafts to cash-paying customers all night long. Credit card transactions will be $2.50 for draft beer, with local beers on tap at the ballpark this season.

The first 100 young fans through the gate Thursday will take home a backpack courtesy of Food City.

Friday evening will feature a single game with the Twins, starting at 7 pm, following by a camp over by area scouts.

After a trip to Elizabethton Saturday, the Pirates will return home for three games with their division rival Johnson City Cardinals on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Sunday's game begins at 6 pm, with the other two games in that series slated for 7 pm first pitches.

Monday will be a very special night at the ballpark, as all law enforcement personnel, fire fighters, and first responders will be admitted for free by displaying their official ID.

"We are all very appreciative of the service of our local law enforcement, first responders, and fire fighters," stated Mahlon Luttrell, president of Bristol Baseball, Inc. and General Manager of the Bristol Pirates. "We want to make sure they know that all of us appreciate the sacrifices they make, and this is one way in which we can show our appreciation."
