Perez, born in Caracas, Venezuela, started his career in 2002 with the Cincinnati Reds farm system before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates and other teams before ending his career in 2013 with the Pirates. In the minors, Perez compiled a .268 batting average as a catcher.
Perez also made a two game appearance in the majors for the Cincinnati Reds, which came in 2005.
Kory DeHaan was scheduled to return for his second season as the BriBucs skipper but will now serve as an outfield instructor for the organization's entire minor league system. A native of Venezuela, Perez played professionally from 2002-2013 and appeared in two major league games for the Cincinnati Reds in 2005. He's worked in various roles in the Pittsburgh farm system since retiring as a player.
