Brooklyn, NY (May 21, 2022) – It was a night to forget on Saturday evening as the Cyclones fell to the Hudson Valley Renegades by the score of 12-2. The ‘Gades jumped out to an early lead – thanks to a first-inning grand slam – and never looked back.

RHP Daison Acosta made the start for Brooklyn and ran into trouble with two outs in the first frame. Tyler Hardman worked a one-out walk to put a pair of runners aboard for Anthony Seigler. The Renegades catcher, who was making his 2022 Hudson Valley debut, lined a single into right field to plate the game’s first run. Acosta then issued a walk to Spencer Henson to load the bases, still with two outs. That would be the end of the line for Acosta who left after 30 pitches. Colby Morris replaced the Cyclones starter and on his first pitch of the day James Nelson cracked a grand-slam to push the Renegades lead to 5-0.

The Renegades would score a solo run in the fifth and four more in the sixth to extend their advantage to 10-0.

After managing just two hits through the first seven innings, the Brooklyn bats showed some live in the bottom of the eighth.

Tanner Murphy doubled to start the threat and Rowdey Jordan worked a walk to put a pair of runners about with nobody out. After Wilmer Reyes struck out for the first out, JT Schwartz worked a walk to load the bases for Brooklyn. Brandon McIlwain and Joe Suozzi took advantage of the scoring opportunity with back-to-back RBI singles to make it 10-2 after eight.

In the top of the ninth, with RHP Evy Ruibal on the mound for the Cyclones, Hudson Valley scored a pair of runs to push their lead back to 10 runs at 12-2, which is how the game would end.

The Cyclones and Renegades will square off in a special Sunday double dip to close out the six-game series. Game One will start at 12:30 PM with Game Two starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first contest. Those with tickets for Sunday are welcome to attend both games. Gates will open at noon.
