The Buffalo Bisons today announced that RHP JOEL CARRENO has joined the club from the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

Carreno, 26, has spent the entire season with the Fisher Cats and is 2-1 with a 1.65 ERA and seven saves in 22 appearances. He has struck out 44 batters to only 12 hits allowed in 27.1 innings of work. Eastern League opponents hit just .128 (12-94) off Carreno with three doubles and no home runs (.160 slugging pct.). The righty has not allowed a run in five straight outings (6.0 IP, 2 H, 9 SO), all of which resulted in a converted save.

Carreno appeared at three different levels in 2012, including 11 games and two starts with Toronto. For the Blue Jays, he was 0-2 with a 6.14 ERA in 22.0 innings of work. The 2013 season is his first as a full-time reliever.
