Blue Jays sign outfielder Kalish

Veteran of 146 Major League games with Cubs, Red Sox

The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that they have signed OF RYAN KALISH to a minor league contract with an invitation to Major League spring training.

KALISH, 26, split the 2014 season between the Chicago Cubs and their Triple-A team in Iowa. He made the Cubs Opening Day Roster and averaged .248 (30-121) with four doubles, four triples and five RBI in 57 total games with Chicago. He was optioned to Iowa in late May and spent the next three months in Triple-A where he hit .251 (72-287) with 14 doubles, three triples, eight home runs and 37 RBI in 87 games.

Kalish also spent time with the Boston Red Sox in 2010 and 2012, and in 146 career Major League games has a .245 (93-380) average, 18 doubles, four home runs and 34 RBI. He missed the entire 2013 season because of surgeries in his right shoulder and neck.
