Jays sign Ricardo Nanita

Veteran outfielder played 38 games with Herd in 2013

The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that they have signed OF RICARDO NANITA to a minor league contract with an invitation to Major League spring training.

NANITA, 33, played 38 games with the Bisons in 2013 after being promoted to the club from Double-A New Hampshire. The veteran hit .261 (35-134) with 11 doubles, two home runs and 14 RBI. He went back-to-back games without a hit only once while active with the Bisons. He also missed 36 games on the disabled list from June 24-August 3. Nanita hit .255 (35-137) with four home runs and 11 RBI in 36 games with the Fisher Cats to begin the 2013 season.

This will be Nanita's fifth season in the Blue Jays organization, including two seasons with the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s of the Pacific Coast League, 2011-2012, where he hit 20 home runs in 144 games.
