With the new ballpark signage in place proclaiming Sahlen Field as the new home of the Buffalo Bisons, the countdown is on for Opening Day on Thursday, April 4 (2:05 p.m.). Today, the Bisons announced all that's new at the newly-named Sahlen Field for their fans from Western New York and Southern Ontario to enjoy in 2019.
"With Bisons Opening Day just two weeks away, we're as anxious as our fans to put this long winter behind us and welcome the return of those spring and summer nights at the ballpark we all love," said Mike Buczkowski, President of Rich Baseball Operations and Bisons General Manger. "With a full lineup up of new features, fun promotions and great food and beverage options, we're excited to get a new ballpark era underway at Sahlen Field."

The biggest change for the Bisons this offseason is the expanded partnership with one of Western New York's most iconic organizations, the Sahlen's Packing Company. Sahlen Field becomes the new ballpark home of the Bisons, and with it comes even more of Sahlen's top quality products. The Foot-Long Hot Dog returns to concessions stands, while a new offering, an Italian Hot Ham Sandwich, will make its debut in 2019. A new Sahlen's Specialty Station has also been created to feature an All-Beef Hot Dog as well as a rotating Specialty Dog with different topping combinations each homestand.

For fans with a larger appetite wanting to fill up on more than just a hot dog or two, there's an exciting change in the ballpark's Consumer's Pub at the Park. The fan-favorite restaurant is the new home of the Bisons Ballpark Buffet -an All-You-Can-Eat offering beginning two hours before every game of the season with rotating themes and selections based on promotions, Bisons opponents (and the items their cities are known for) and holidays. Fans will have the option to purchase a Buffet-Game Ticket for $29 for adults and $18 for children 12 years old and younger, while fans already holding tickets can make reservations by calling (716) 846-2100 ($19.95/$10.95 for buffet).
As fans tour the ballpark for even more new concession items they'll find the can snack on the new Breaded Jalapeno Cheese Bites for a quick bite or try out the new Beyond Burger -a plant-based burger that allows fans to enjoy a healthy meal on the lighter side. Ru's Pierogi is adding a Pulled Pork Pierogi as well as a Chocolate Cheesecake Pierogi to their lineup. Another new dessert item, a Giant Churros topped with sugar and cinnamon, serves as the closer to cap off a night at the ballpark.
Sahlen Field will continue its reputation as a destination for craft beer fans in 2019 with a new four-pack from their popular Ballpark Brewers Series. The pack will include 'The Surge' Hazy IPA (Resurgence Brewing), 'Czech Swing' Czech-style lager (Community Beer Works) and 'Dayburner' IPA (Big Ditch Brewing Company) as well as a collaboration from all three brewers for the 'Short Hop' hoppy blonde ale.
Getting more for your ticket is the theme for the team's all-new Herd Membership Club. The Bisons first ever ticket club includes four undated tickets for each month of the season plus 'perks' for all the games you attend (like free concessions or merchandise discounts). Perfect for the family or for an individual, the Herd Membership Club costs only $222 (a savings of over 40%) and can be purchased right now at Bisons.com.

We have also finally found out this off season what Celery has been doing in its retirement from the WCC Race. The Bisons have recently released 'Celery's Greatest Race' children's book, sharing the inspiring story of Celery's hard work and determination in earning just one win. Written by Depew-native Amy Myhalenko, the book is on sale now at Bisons.com for only $15, with proceeds benefiting Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries.
Adding fun new events each year to the Bisons promotional schedule has always been a priority and 2019 is no different. Sahlen Field will welcome Peppa Pig and her brother George for the first time on May 5 while The Trolls will arrive at the ballpark on August 18. The Bisons will also host their first ever Game of Thrones Night on June 22, complete with a 'House Bisons' Banner Giveaway to the first 2,000 fans in attendance. The team will give away Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Bobble Heads on July 21 and Beef on Weck Bobble Heads on July 16.
For their popular Dog Day Series, the Bisons have added a Dog Chew Toy Giveaway on May 16 and a Dog Bag Dispenser Giveaway on June 19. A new 'Treats Ticket' is also available for any of the five Dog Day Games. Along with a game ticket, the 'Treats Ticket' includes a Sahlen's Hot dog and a soft drink for you and a dog treat and a pet accessory gift shop discount for your furry friend for only $16.50.
The Bisons know a thing or two about having fun during baseball games, but Sahlen Field is also the home of several non-game day events each summer. On May 24, the Bisons will host Nitro Circus' 'You Got This Tour' as the best X-gamers in FMX, BMX, skate, scooter and more will amaze fans by flying off a ramp 75 feet in the air. Then on June 2, Buffalo Bills safety Micah Hyde will be joined by several of his Bills teammates and local Buffalo legends and celebrities for the Micah Hyde Charity Softball Game to benefit the IMagINe for Youth Foundation.
Tickets for both of these great events are available at Bisons.com.
There will be several new merchandise offerings for Bisons fans in 2019. Along with Celery's new book, kids can add Beef on Weck and Carrot dolls to their WCC collection while the team will turn back the clock with a line of retro caps that bring past Bisons logos back to life.
