ALL-STAR FAN FEST (#AllStarFanFest)

On Saturday, July 12, the DBAP will open its gates for All-Star Fan Fest, a free event giving fans an all-access pass to the newly renovated home of the 27th Triple-A All-Star Game. Beginning at 11:00am, fans will be able to take batting practice on the field, get behind-the-scenes tours of the ballpark, and enjoy interactive games and exhibits celebrating North Carolina's rich baseball heritage. Young fans can visit inflatables, face painters, balloon and caricature artists, and interact with mascots from around Triple-A baseball and the local community.

The group, which includes R.E.M. members Peter Buck and Mike Mills, Scott McCaughey and The Dream Syndicate's Steve Wynn, is on Hillsborough, NC-based independent record label Yep Roc. Their appearance comes on the heels of the release of their aptly titled third album, 3rd. Also performing on Saturday will be blues/soul band Lockdown and alt-rockers Spaceship Days. Between sets, the Block Party crowd will be entertained by Fenway Park organist Josh Kantor. In conjuction with the All-Star Block Party, there will be a screening of the Bull City Summer feature length documentary film "Leaving Traces" at American Tobacco Campus' Full Frame Theater, also starting at 6:00pm.
