Norfolk, VA --- Chris Johnson doubled home Logan Schafer in the seventh to snap a 3-3 tie, springing the Norfolk Tides to a 4-3 win over the Durham Bulls on Sunday at Harbor Park.
The Bulls (57-36) rallied from an early 3-0 deficit thanks to a pair of runs in the fifth driving in on a single by Jake Bauers and walk to Curt Casali. Jake Hager clubbed a homer in the sixth to tie the game 3-3.
However, Schafer tripled to right-center to open the seventh against reliever José Alvarado (L, 0-1), then scored on a double by Chris Johnson to put the Tides (39-55) up 4-3.
Jimmy Yacabonis (W, 2-0) earned the win with three scoreless innings, retiring all nine batters he saw during his longest outing of the season.
Hunter Wood worked 5 2/3 innings, allowing all three runs in the first inning before settling in. Wood fanned three, walked one and permitted eight hits.
Jake Bauers, who matched a career-high with four hits on Saturday, reached base four more times on Sunday, drawing two walks with two singles.
The Bulls split their four-game series against the Tides and return to the DBAP to open a seven-game homestand Monday night against Indianapolis. Michael Roth (0-1, 9.00) starts the opener against the West-leading Indians.
