Four Fireworks Shows Highlight Independence Week

Huge Fireworks Displays Follow Bulls Games on July 2 and 3, USA Baseball on July 4 and 5

Durham Bulls Athletic Park will once again be the home for the Triangle's biggest Independence Week fireworks shows. The reigning Governors' Cup Champion Durham Bulls host the Gwinnett Braves on July 2 and 3, with fireworks following both games. The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team then takes on Chinese Taipei on July 4 and 5, with fireworks upon conclusion of those contests as well.

On Wednesday, July 2, the IL South Division rival Gwinnett Braves visit the DBAP for a quick two-game set. The 7:05pm game presented by Carolina Packers will feature not only postgame fireworks, but also the second DBAP Food Truck Fest of the season. Participants at the popular culinary celebration include Only Burger, Chirba Chirba, Parlez-Vous Crepe, Iced Cupcakes, BaguettAboutIt, Porchetta, The Humble Pig, and American Melt Down. Immediately following the game, Carolina Packers will hold its annual Hot Dog Eating Contest on the field before fireworks.

The Bulls wrap up their short series with the Braves with the team's annual Independence Day Fireworks Extravaganza on Thursday, July 3 at 7:05pm. The biggest regular season game of the season will feature the year's longest fireworks display. The presenting sponsors of the July 3 game, Five Guys Burgers & Fries and Two Men & a Truck, are encouraging fans to bring a food or canned good donation that night to help "Stuff the Truck" for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC.

USA Baseball then returns to downtown Durham as the Collegiate National Team begins a two-game exhibition series against Chinese Taipei on the Fourth of July. Immediately following the 6:05pm game, the DBAP will host the City of Durham's official July 4th Fireworks celebration, the most dazzling pyrotechnics spectacular in the region. The two international rivals will battle again on Saturday, July 5, with the fourth consecutive fireworks show of the week following that 7:05pm contest. The Bulls resume play at the DBAP on Sunday, July 6 when the Norfolk Tides visit for two games. Sunday's 5:05pm game features the third Bike to the Ballpark event of the year, presented by GoTriangle. Fans who ride their bicycle to the DBAP and park it in the secure bike valet will be able to purchase a $10 ticket which includes $5 in food credit. Additionally, the first 200 fans to park their bikes will receive a Bulls gift bag with goodies from partners including GoTriangle, Great Outdoor Provision Company, the City of Durham, and Dick's Sporting Goods. Following the game, Kids Run the Bases thanks to Nature's Twist. The final Bulls home game before All-Star Week occurs on Monday, July 7, as the Bulls host the Tides in a 7:05pm game presented by the Diaper Bank of NC. Fans who bring packaged diapers that night will receive a complimentary ticket to Monday's game.

Durham Bulls Athletic Park hosts four Independence Week fireworks shows in six nights beginning on Wednesday, July 2.
