(Burlington-IA) Los Angeles Angels first round draft choice, LHP Sean Newcomb, will make his Burlington Bees debut, starting game one of a three game series with Peoria on Tuesday.

Sean Newcomb was the 15th overall draft choice in the 2014 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft and makes his Burlington debut on Tuesday night at 6:30 against the Peoria Chiefs.

Newcomb's fastball sits around 90-94 miles per hour but can reach back and top at 97. The 21 year old is an imposing figure on the mound, standing 6'5" and weighing 240 pounds. Newcomb pitched in two games, both starts, with the Arizona League Angels, pitching in three innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out three.

The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts native pitched three seasons at the University of Hartford in Hartford Connecticut. Newcomb posted an 8-2 record with a 1.25 ERA in 14 games, all starts for the Hawks, in junior season. The Angels first round selection struck out 106 batters in 93.1 innings in 2014.

The left-hander set the University of Hartford record for career strikeouts and was named Second Team All-American this spring.
