Bees edge Blackhawks 4-1 in Exhibition

By Brandon Marcus, Director of Broadcasting / Burlington Bees | April 2, 2013 4:21 PM ET

Brennan Gowens drove in two runs and scored another to help the Burlington Bees defeat the Southeastern Community College Blackhawks 4-1 in an exhibition on Tuesday evening.

Gowens got the Bees on the board with a two-run single in the bottom of the second, which scored both Wade Hinkle and Michael Bolaski.

While Gowens was producing at the plate, a group of pitchers were impressing on the mound. The Bees sent seven different pitchers to the mound, with the group only allowing one total run, which was unearned. Each Bees pitcher struck out at least one batter.

Arjenis Fernandez started for Burlington and struck out two in a perfect inning of work. Cameron Bedrosian, Jake Boyd, Kurt Spomer, Eduard Santos, Joey Krehbiel and Jairo Diaz also took the mound and looked solid in their debuts.

The Bees home opener is April 4th when the Bees take on the Clinton LumberKings at 6:30 PM. For more information or to purchase tickets, please log onto or call the office at (319) 754-5705.
